Conservation, Planning and Project Design

LANDMATTERS supports:
  • Placing people at the center of conservation
  • Creative decision making
  • Protecting clean water, healthy landscapes, and safe habitat for native plants and animals
  • Building vibrant, natural spaces for people to escape into and play
  • Collaborating with communities, conservation groups and land trusts on acquisition strategies
  • Representing conservation groups' interests with stakeholders and local agencies
  • Partnering with government, nonprofits and foundations to develop programs and initiatives
  • Securing funding sources for innovative conservation projects
  • Building conservation leadership and staff training
  • Creative map-making and GIS services

Building Partnerships

Successful conservation projects need connectors. We help do that by:
  • Recognizing the need to expand the potential for conservation properties
  • Collaborating with private, public and nonprofit entities to support community partnership projects
  • Leveraging public and private funds to support activities and programs
  • Integrating compatible uses

Planning & Design

Your conservation projects will benefit from our big picture thinking. We start with:
  • A focus on people and community
  • Understanding the history of the land
  • Attuned to impacts on neighbors and neighborhoods
  • Preserving and restoring native habitats
  • Improving water quality and stormwater effects
  • Considering infrastructure layout and longterm stewardship obligations
